2015 Event Summary
In March 2015 the Forest Industry Safety Summit series hosted close to 500 forestry managers, forest owners, harvest planners, transport operators and forestry contractors from New Zealand, Australia and around the world.
Many countries, especially New Zealand, are grappling with major issues around the safety culture on its forestry work sites. This event set out to help change this.
The Forest Industry Safety Summit in March 2015 advanced discussions on safety solutions with an expanded line-up of speakers from the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Coverage also included key safety issues in log transport and forest and rural firefighting.
This event was run for the first time be run in both New Zealand and Australia.
The industry must change. The Forest Industry Safety Summit played an integral part in bringing the industry together to make that change.
What was Covered?
The Forest Industry Safety Summit addressed Industry and government issues in regard to forestry safety. It also showcased new practices, systems and tools that can be used in the forest to improve safety – with a focus on local and practical outcomes.
